HOLM OAK – CORK OAK
INTENSIVE HOLM OAK’S CROPS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ACORNS
GRASSLAND DENSIFICATION

Meristec, as a solution to the low and irregular production of acorns, came up with the development and implementation of an intensive crops of holm oaks and other Mediterranean Quercus with selected trees because of their great production. They would be new innovative crops with high productive capacity, with interesting implications in income increases for both the farmer and the owner of pastures. Densification with the best adult plants of the pasture previously selected and propagated on Phytophtora resistant clonal patterns is Meristec’s proposal to increase the current low density in the pastures.
Creation of an intensive acorn cultivation that will be able to produce acrons in 5 years.
7000 / 8000 kg of acorns will be produce each year.
Higher density of traditional crops of holm oaks repopulating with healthy and uniform productive varieties.

For its vigor and disease tolerance.

Creation of mother foot fields.

The productive varieties are grafted onto selected patterns to obtain fast-entering plants.
